Callahan was injured Jan. 29 against the Philadelphia Flyers while fighting Max Talbot. After undergoing an MRI the next day on his shoulder, he was expected to miss 10-14 days. If Callahan does in fact return tomorrow night, it will be nine days in total he has been out of the lineup – just slightly ahead of schedule.
Callahan practiced today in a white practice jersey. While he hesitated to set an exact date, he didn’t shy away from saying he could return tomorrow.
“Anything is possible. I’m basically day to day at this point. I’ll see how it reacts to that [shoulder in practice] and go from there.”
He continued, “today was definitely a good day. Just getting some contact there and taking it a step at a time.”
When Andrew Gross of The Bergen Record asked Callahan how his slapshot was, Callahan laughed and replied, “I don’t know, you’ll have to ask Henke [Henrik Lundqvist] that.”
