Last night in the thrilling 3-2 overtime victory for the New York Rangers, captain Ryan Callahan not only scored the game-winning goal, but it was the 100th of his young NHL career.
The goal was scored 2:59 into the overtime period, and was Callahan’s 24th of this season–a new career best.
After the game, Callahan was in a well-deserved celebratory mood and had this to share with the media:
“I guess if you were going to script your 100th goal, this would be it,” laughed a smiling Callahan in the post-game locker room.
Of the big win, Callahan said, “It’s nice, definitely, to get that two points and get over that hump actually. I thought we played well the whole game, put a lot of pressure on them. We had a lot of chances. Last night we came back, but didn’t get that extra point, and tonight we did. It’s something we can build on.”
